A Brief History of Saved By Grace:
In January of 1990, some concerned Christians gathered together to form a new congregation in Gresham, OR. They wanted a congregation that remained faithful to God’s Word. In its early years, the congregation rented the gym at North Gresham Grade School for Sunday morning services. That same year the congregation applied for help from and membership in the Evangelical Lutheran Synod located in Mankato, Minnesota. The congregation was accepted into membership and adopted as a Home Mission Congregation of the ELS synod.
With the help of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod, the congregation purchased its current property on Division Street in 1993. The building was originally used for other purposes. As a result, the members themselves remodeled the building by donating their time, talents and treasure to do so. Their labor of love has provided a very pleasing sanctuary for the congregation.
During the congregation’s history, most of the talented charter members have gone on to be with the saints in heaven. Even as they have gone on before us, the congregation has continued to be blessed with many other talented members – teachers, organists, pianists, artists, leaders, etc; as well as members from all walks of life.
