Jeremiah 17:13-14 ▪ Galatians 5:16-24 ▪ ✞ Luke 17:11-19
There is an interesting connection between Sunday’s lessons. In Luke 17:10-18 ten lepers asked Jesus to have mercy on them. Jesus healed them by means of his Word. In Galatians 5:16-24, we learn that we inherited the leprous sinful self from Adam. The Holy Spirit cleansed us of the sinful self in the blood of Jesus by means of the Word joined to water, baptism, creating us anew in Christ Jesus. A fruit of this cleansing power of the Word is returning thanks to God.
