As we think about Father’s Day, a poet once penned, “Our Father by whom all fatherhood is named.” As great an honor as is to be named after our heavenly Father, there is no perfect human father. Those of us who are fathers all fall far short. That being true, not only fathers but all of us need our heavenly Father, who shows us mercy. Because we do, Jesus tells a story about a father in Sunday’s text. It is one of his most well known parables – the Parable of the Merciful Father and his Two Sons.
