God kept his Word and gave a son, Isaac, to aged Abraham and Sarah. Isaac was the next in line to be the ancestor of Jesus. In the fullness of time, God sent forth His Son, Jesus, born of the Virgin Mary to redeem us from the Law (Gal. 4:1–7). Now He is presented in the temple where Simeon takes Jesus up in his arms and blesses Him and His parents (Luke 2:33–40). We are blessed as Jesus comes to us in the hearing of his Word and gives us His Body and Blood to eat and drink for our salvation.
