Faith in the Risen Jesus Overcomes Fear and Doubt. On two successive Sundays – Easter Eve and the following Sunday Eve – the risen Jesus bodily stood among the disciples cowering in fear and another struggling with doubt. Standing among them he said, “Peace be with you”. To underscore the peace he brings, he showed the disciples the nail prints in his hands and scar marked side. They were evidence that the Father accepted Jesus’ payment for our sins. Jesus continues to stand among us today delivering the forgiveness of sins in the baptism, absolution and communion overcoming fear and doubt.
