Sunday is Trinity Sunday. It is the custom of the Church to confess the Athanasian Creed on this day. While we will sing a hymn version of Athanasian Creed, the sermon will quote the following from it:
“Whoever will be saved shall, above all else, hold the catholic faith…. and the true Christian faith is this, that we worship one God in Trinity and Trinity and Unity.
“Furthermore it is necessary for everlasting salvation that one also believe faithfully the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ.. who suffered for our salvation.”
The Trinity is active in our salvation – the Father and the Son – sending the Holy Spirit to give us the second birth we need for salvation, creating faith in Jesus, our Savior. (John 3:1-15)
